EDINBURG – Rio Grande Valley Border Patrol agents keep nearly 900 pounds of marijuana from reaching our communities.
On Thursday, Weslaco agents on patrol near San Juan, Texas, observed shoe prints on a trail just north of the Rio Grande. The agents followed the prints towards the vicinity of an abandoned barn where they located five bundles of marijuana hidden in the brush. Agents searched the area for the smugglers and additional drugs to no avail. The marijuana weighed over 136 pounds, worth an estimated $109K.
