COVID-19 takes the lives of 22 people in Hidalgo County; another 407 test positive

EDINBURG – As Hidalgo County surpassed the 20,000 mark for positive cases, 22 people died due to complications related to COVID-19 and 407 people tested positive for the virus, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Monday. The total number of known positive cases is 20,148. “My heart goes out to all the families and friends of those who have lost a loved one due to this virus,” Judge Cortez said. “Hidalgo County has established the Hidalgo County COVID Condolence Program to assist eligible individuals who have lost a loved one due to COVID-19 with up to $2,000 for funeral expenses.
