This October, Mujeres Unidas is asking community members to join the organziation, Hidalgo County District Attorney’s Office and the Hidalgo County Family Task Force in honoring Domestic Violence Awareness Month.According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC), 40% of Texas women and 35% of Texas men experience domestic violence in their lifetime. Domestic violence also affects teenagers at staggering rates, 1 in 3 teens while in high school experience abuse from a dating partner.There will be numerous ways community members can join in efforts to spread awareness, and honor the strength of survivors.The following is a list of community events:>
