Hidalgo County’s fatality rate doubles Should county bars re-open?

By the time you read this editorial, the decision on whether or not to re-open bars in Hidalgo County may already have been made by County Judge Richard Cortez. To do so, under emergency measures, the re-opening doesn’t require the full vote of the county commissioner’s court. County COVID hospitalizations are down, so open up the bars, some have argued.
