I used to say, Hidalgo County has to have more restaurants per capita (person) than almost anywhere in the country. Bar none. Never got to do a real analysis to see if I was right, but with all of the mom-and-pops in Hidalgo County alone, let alone the franchise establishments, doing so would almost be an impossible task unless one had a LOT of time on one’s hands.
