McALLEN – If the rains hold off this Wednesday, McAllen’s Palm View Golf Course will unveil new course upgrades. “The second most important real estate on any golf course are the tees, and these newly constructed tees at the Palm View Golf Course are designed to help with the strategic play of the game for golfers,” said Carlos Espinosa, director of the Palm View Golf Course. “The new tees have been re-leveled and sodded with the latest and greatest Bermuda grass, which is denser and has a faster recovery rate. Golfers are going to love it!” After 20 years, the wear on the tees was showing, said Espinosa, which is the reason the golf course invested $293,000 to reconstruct 167,000 square feet of tees and 28,000 square feet of sand bunkers. The course’s Sundowners group and student golfers will be on hand at the course at 5 p.m. Wednesday to join Mayor Jim Darling and other city officials as the new upgrades are unveiled.
