It’s official. The City of Pharr is now in the ambulance business after the bankrupt company it offered to purchase for approximately $1 million has gained approval of the federal bankruptcy judge overseeing it, Houston-based David R. Jones.
Since Hidalgo County EMS, once a self-proclaimed industry high-flyer prior to its crash in 2019, filed bankruptcy that same year, the story has been dragging on with carnage left by the wayside. The company’s former owner, Kenny Ponce, has pled guilty to bankruptcy fraud, AKA, screwing the creditors, and awaits sentencing.
