RGV Border Patrol seizes nearly $1 million worth of marijuana

EDINBURG – U.S. Border Patrol agents working along the Rio Grande seized more than 1,200 pounds of marijuana in two separate incidents. Agents working near Garceno, Texas observed a Ford F-150 traveling away from the Rio Grande at a high rate of speed. As nearby agents responded to investigate, the driver of the F-150 veered off the road and abandoned the pickup after striking a gate. Agents searched the vehicle and discovered 750 pounds of marijuana worth nearly $600K. That same afternoon, agents and Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) troopers working near Rio Grande City, Texas, encountered a vehicle leaving the river area.
