EDINBURG – During a 24 hour period, agents seize nearly 400 lbs. of marijuana in four separate smuggling events. Just after midnight on May 7, agents assigned to the Rio Grande City station observed several subjects near the river in Escobares, Texas. As agents approached, the smugglers fled to Mexico, dropping a bundle of marijuana. The marijuana weighed more than 35 lbs., valued at $28K. Early May 7th, McAllen station agents working near Havana, Texas, observed numerous subjects illegally enter the United States. A search of the area produced two abandoned bundles of marijuana weighing more than 70 lbs., valued at $56K.
