Special to the Advance EDINBURG — The Edinburg Police Department said it is excited to welcome a new group of students to this year’s Edinburg Teen Police Academy.The initiative, aimed at facilitating a positive relationship with city youth, was created to foster interest in a career in law enforcement.The week-long program will allow participants to learn more about core police functions, such as patrol, special operations, and crime scene investigation.Participants will be introduced to policing through hands-on activities at the CPL Derek Hernandez Police Training Facility, located at 1309 N.
