Special to the Advance McALLEN — During the month of October, the Center for Urban Ecology at Quinta Mazatlán is celebrating native plants by planning educational events, hosting the annual Planta Natíva Social, hosting native plant sales, providing a native plant giveaway for schools and families, launching a Rio Grande Valley Native Garden Contest, and planting tiny forests to create habitat for birds, butterflies and all wildlife.
