I’ve grown soft in my later years. No doubt about it. I can tell it by the fact that I now feel sorry for the lowly worm. I’ve turned into a nature wuss. If I weren’t me, I’d make fun of me.
When I was a kid, I’d dig through the dirt looking for worms. There they are. Dig them up, one at a time. Put them in an empty coffee can and go down by the river and fish. In such diverse places that included Illinois, Wisconsin, Virginia, South Carolina and my native Louisiana.
