McAllen begins FY 2022-2023 budget workshops

On Tuesday, the McAllen City Commission will hear from McAllen City Management on the proposed $630 million budget for the City of McAllen for the upcoming fiscal year, 2022-2023. Highlights of the budget include a multitude of infrastructure projects, totaling more than $278 million; investment for the expansion of the Anzalduas Port of Entry cargo facilities; recommendations for fire and police protection; sustaining the current municipal workforce; and the proposed lower tax rate for McAllen taxpayers. The budget workshop is set for today at 4:00 p.m. at Champion Lakes Golf Course, 2701 S. Ware Rd. Today’s workshop is the first of six budget workshops that will be held before the public hearings in September, when the public is invited to make comments on the final proposed budget.
