I’m not going to mention Jim’s last name. For all I know, he’s still living in Brownsville, and somehow he’ll get a copy of this paper, and not be happy. Then again, Jim V was a crazy, wild sort of guy, so he probably wouldn’t care.
The International Museum of Art & Science and McAllen Public Utility are excited to announce the Back to School Bash, an event that commemorates the new school year with a fusion of art, science, and community engagement. Scheduled for Aug. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this event will feature a wide range of activities and community partner booths to delight attendees of all ages.
This week, Cinderella presents two very special dogs, one named after the legendary crooner, and the other named after Lady Gaga, Tony Bennett’s good friend and frequent collaborator. These are a couple of really great dogs but each has some insecurity issues and that’s why we mention needing a dog whisperer or two-someone who understands and knows how to work with dogs with adjustment issues. These two are brother and sister Lab/Chow Chow crosses. They were bom almost seven years ago and have lived at the Cinderella shelter all their lives.
HUB City Toastmasters meets each Wednesday at the Pharr Memorial Library, 121 E. Cherokee, second floor, from noon until 1 p.m. Visitors are welcome.
