The grisly story coming out of Reynosa made all the wire services last week, along with the major news outlets, which is to be expected when the story centers around dismembered body parts, which belonged to 27 people, found in at least 16 burial pits discovered close to the center of the city.
How hard is it to scam a senior citizen over the phone who has cognitive issues? Not hard. I saw it done to my father-in-law who was sharp as a tack before ill health (two strokes and a broken hip) started to drag him down. It was at that point that a phone scammer got him so scared over the phone, something about “unpaid taxes,” that he was set to drive to the bank and wire some money to some unknown account before my wife and I got wind of what was going on.
Blood drives. Boooooring. Maybe, but not if your life, or the life of a loved one, is on the line and the local hospitals have run out of the red stuff. Then you’ll be screaming, “Where is the blood?” If more people donated blood now, though, that scenario would never play out.
