If you’ve recently noticed those casino-looking places in some of the smaller Valley cities, you’re probably wondering what they are. Many look like cheap topless places where every Friday night, you can catch at least one fight between two “bubbas” laced up on testosterone and cheap beer. Out back they have the knife fights.
For those old enough to remember the actual vinyl-record stores in the 1960s, ‘70s, ‘80s, we missed them when they went AWOL, based on market demands for digital and/or free media, but the fact that vinyl records are once again wildly popular, along with a few niche vinyl stores, is something most of us didn’t think possible, what, 20 years ago?

McAllen’s Quinta Mazatlán invites the community to enjoy a quarter-mile Superhero Trail through the Woods, starting with Thursday Night Live on Thursday, June 8, 2023 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Quinta Mazatlán, 600 Sunset Drive with the Superhero Trail & Superhero Vehicle Night in the Park. Rio Grande Valley artists Celerino Castillo and Gaby Rico have created over 75 life size painted wood PEGS of comic book superheroes that have been placed along the trails. Walk the trail and see sixfoot- tall famous comic book covers that will be accompanying the artistic PEGS. The trail will begin with the community’s reallife superheroes and their vehicles stationed along Sabal Palm Drive.
