Special to the Advance PHARR — Five Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) theatre student films have advanced to the State UIL Film Competition, with one being selected as a Finalist for a Nobelity Project Social Impact Award. A total of 24 UIL 5A student films from across Texas advanced to State, five being from PSJAISD.
“No one runs from the state police,” is unofficially the policy of the Texas DPS, according to several sources in local law enforcement who asked that their names not be used in this story for obvious reasons. They also don’t want to say that their own departments avoid high-speed pursuits unless it involves a felony or serious misdemeanor.
— February is Responsible Pet Owners Month and Precinct 3 is celebrating by collecting supplies for pets living at Yaqui Animal Rescue in Sullivan City. Donations will be accepted at Precinct 3's administration office now through March 3.
