As this story is being written, Tuesday, May 24, it’s been 12 days since convicted killer Gonzalo Lopez escaped from a state prison bus in Leon County, which lies about halfway between Houston and Dallas. The Hidalgo County native and former resident hasn’t been seen since, even though more than 300 members of law enforcement, bloodhounds, helicopters, you name it, have been searching for him high and low.
You don’t see a lot of state prison breaks any more. The action movies and TV shows are full of them, harking back to the 1930s gangster era when desperados like John Dillinger, Bonnie and Clyde made escape from state prisons look relatively easy whether it was in Indiana or Texas.

This study aims to recruit women of diverse backgrounds across the entire State of Texas.
For years, one of my favorite quotes comes from the French writer Voltaire: “Common Sense is not so common.”
