Hidalgo County Health Authority issues mask mandate for area schools, gives local school boards option to opt out

EDINBURG – Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Ivan Melendez, in his capacity as the Hidalgo County Local Health Authority, issued an order Friday that students, staff and visitors to all public and private schools, from grades kindergarten through grade 12, must wear facial coverings while inside area schools regardless of vaccination status. Any Hidalgo County school district may opt out of the mandate if the respective school board votes to do so, the orders said.

Pharr to host signing ceremony for Police and Fire Unions Collective Bargaining Agreements on Wed., 8/18 @ 12 pm

PHARR – The City of Pharr will host a Signing Ceremony for the Police and Fire Unions Collective Bargaining Agreements. The event will take place at 12 pm on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, on the Second Floor of Pharr City Hall (118 S. Cage Blvd).

McALLEN – City of McAllen officials, in conjunction with Hidalgo County and Boys & Girls Club of McAllen will be hosting a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on Thursday, August 19, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Roney Center Boys & DOWN Girls Club, located at 4501 N. 34th St. in McAllen.
