A man from Rio Bravo, Carlos Rodriguez Santiago, 44, has been charged in the hit-and-run fatal accident that took place Sunday night and took the life of 18-yearold Lorena Perez of Edinburg. To add more tragic news to the story, Perez was eight month pregnant when Santiago hit her, according to the probable cause affidavit.

The COVID-19 numbers don’t lie, sad to say. In fact, if the current numbers don’t scare you, they should. With public schools scheduled to begin in-person classes later this month, the rising numbers become even more problematic.
