City of McAllen officially launches Community Toolshed Program

McALLEN – Earlier this year, the McAllen City Commission approved the creation of a community toolshed, a program where McAllen residents can borrow – for free – various lawn and garden tools and equipment for residential beautification. The McAllen Community Tool Shed has lawnmowers, weed eaters, manual pole pruners, hand pruners, metal rakes, leaf rakes, loppers, power washers, push brooms, garden shovels, spade shovels, wheelbarrows, hammers, and recycling bags. Tools can be borrowed on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday, for a maximum amount of 72 hours at a time,

Hidalgo County Judge confirms first case of the Delta variant of COVID-19 on unvaccinated Hidalgo County resident

EDINBURG — The first case of the highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 in Hidalgo County has been confirmed on an unvaccinated resident by state health officials, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Thursday morning.
