A Border Security Plan by Border Lawmakers

Texas Governor Greg Abbott recently held a press conference to announce his plans for the State of Texas to build a physical border wall with state taxpayer dollars. He also indicated a new approach to charge immigrants and asylum seekers with state crimes to create a criminal record and jail them. At the press conference, Governor Abbott was surrounded by lawmakers from various parts of the state, but not a single lawmaker who joined him represents a border community.

Pharr Chamber announces Marcela Beas as President/CEO

Pharr, Texas – The Board of Directors of the Greater Pharr Chamber of Commerce announced today that it has selected Marcela Beas, M.B.A., as President/CEO. Beas previously served as interim President of the Chamber since 2020; prior to that, Beas was Membership Manager of the Chamber, where she managed the fulfillment of annual new membership sales and existing member retention targets and executed marketing initiatives to create brand advocacy and member growth for the Chamber.

CBP Field Operations seizes $6.5 million in hard narcotics

PHARR - U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations (OFO) at the Pharr International Bridge cargo facility intercepted a load of mixed hard narcotics containing alleged cocaine, methamphetamine and heroin worth $6,582,600 in a commercial shipment arriving from Mexico.
