Today, Legislators had a call with Texas Department of State Health Services Commissioner John Hellerstedt to discuss COVID-19. He made it very clear we are again at a CRITICAL point. We are seeing a surge of COVID cases and hospitalizations across the nation, and Texas is NO EXCEPTION!
McALLEN – The City of McAllen is seeking applicants for mortgage assistance for McAllen residents who have fallen behind on their monthly payment, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The program is designed to help residents who are already behind. Residents must also meet the U.S. Housing and Urban Development (H.U.D.) guidelines, whose household income is 80 percent below the area median income and are not currently receiving mortgage assistance due to COVID-19 impact from any other agency. Thanks to a federal grant award from the Texas Department of Housing & Community Affairs, McAllen homeowners are now eligible for assistance through the Texas Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program. The award of $350,000 should be able to assist families for six months of mortgage assistance: five months of arrears and one current month.
WASHINGTON - Last week, Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) announced $15,679,241 for the McAllen International Airport from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). This grant was made available through supplemental funding provided under the Consolidated Appropriations Act of 2019.
