The Land & Life of Quinta Mazatlán Thursday 5/20 on The Back Porch

Join us on The Back Porch at Quinta Mazatlán Thursday, May 20th, 5:30 pm to learn about the natural history of this urban sanctuary! The City of McAllen opened Quinta Mazatlán to the public in 2006, but what was it like before? Come learn about the rich history and interesting stories that have led to the creation of the urban sanctuary we’ve all come to love. The Center for Urban Ecology’s coordinator, Zoe Gapayao, will discuss the historic changes in the Rio Grande Valley’s landscape and the work that has made Quinta Mazatlán World Birding Center a reality.

Trade Agricultural Inspection Grant approved for continuation by the House of Reps.

The Trade Agricultural Inspection Grant Program, authored by Rep. R.D. “Bobby” Guerra, D-McAllen, which helps speed up the safe and efficient entry of Mexican farming products into the United States through the Pharr International Bridge, has been approved to continue through September 1, 2025 by the House of Representatives.

MCALLEN – Rio Grande Regional Hospital (RGRH) is pleased to announce the launch of a new Ceribell Rapid Response Electroencephalogram (EEG) program to ensure optimal care is provided for critically ill patients. Currently, Rio Grande Regional Hospital is the FIRST and ONLY hospital in the Rio Grande Valley to use such innovative technology to reduce seizures and loss of brain activity.
