EDINBURG – The Region One ESC Board of Directors canvassed the votes of the latest Region One Board of Directors election during the regularly scheduled meeting on April 20, 2021. Three seats were up for election including Place 1 and Place 4 both representing Hidalgo County and Place 7 representing Brooks County and Willacy County.

AUSTIN —Texans are fed up with political division, with more than eight in ten saying they are exhausted by the conflict in politics. A key driver of this sense of exhaustion is that Texans see division in a different way: 81 percent say Texans have more in common than what divides them. A new groundbreaking study, The Threads of Texas, explains the forces which are pulling Texans apart and the shared identity and values that can bring Texans together. This new report challenges long-standing narratives of political and geographic division within the state of Texas by providing new data on the many shared beliefs among Texans.
AUSTIN — The United States Census Bureau announced the apportionment count based on the 2020 Census. This count revealed that Texas will add two new Congressional districts due to its rapidly growing population. This means Texas will now have 38 Congressional districts. Senator Hinojosa (Vice Chair - Senate Special Committee on Redistricting) issued the following statement:
LAREDO – Congressman Henry Cuellar (TX-28) announced that FEMA has begun accepting applications for funeral assistance for Texans who’ve lost loved ones to COVID-19. Congressman Cuellar helped pass the funeral assistance program as part of the American Rescue Plan.
