WESLACO – Hidalgo County Precinct 1 Commissioner David L. Fuentes is pleased to announce that Hidalgo County’s application for funding under the Texas General Land Office’s (GLO) Mitigation 2015 HUD Most Impacted and Distressed program was approved for funding in the amount of $9,858,499.20. This funding will go toward Phase I of the Main Floodwater Channel Expansion Project – a critical drainage infrastructure improvement project that was identified as a main priority to prepare for and mitigate major flood events impacting areas in Hidalgo County.

Hidalgo County uses the case status definition provided by the Texas Department of State Health Service’s 2020 Epi Case Criteria Guide revised November 2020.

EDINBURG – State officials are expanding the pool of those people eligible to receive COVID-19 vaccines to include school teachers and those who work in schools, Hidalgo County Judge Richard F. Cortez said Wednesday.
