AUSTIN - Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose taxing districts $677.3 million in local sales tax allocations for April, 3.5 percent less than in April 2020. These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly. And case you're interested in how other Texas cities compared for the same reporting period, April 2020 vs. April 2021, Austin was down 6.81 percent, Brownsville up 3.52 percent, Dallas down 4.34 percent, El Paso up 9.02 percent, Houston down 4.89 percent, Laredo up 9.30 percent, and San Antonio down 7.02 percent.
