WASHINGTON – Congressman Vicente Gonzalez (TX-15) voted in favor of H.R. 266, the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) and Health Care Enhancement Act. This legislation is an interim emergency funding package that will provide the desperately needed resources to sustain efforts to protect the lives and livelihoods of the American people. It will now go to the President’s desk for signature.
BROWNSVILLE – U.S Customs and Border Protection officers at the Gateway International Bridge intercepted a load of alleged heroin and marijuana. CBP officers discovered the alleged narcotics, valued at approximately $69,539, hidden within 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor.
McALLEN – In an effort to provide support to local restaurants, McAllen Public Utility will be waiving wastewater surcharges through the end of July 2020. Wastewater surcharges are assessed to compensate for the extra treatment that must be conducted due to excess grease or industrial waste collected into the wastewater systems and treated at the wastewater treatment plant. MPU is relaxing the requirement to have grease traps cleaned every 90 days due to less volume of wastewater coming from these businesses.
