A Speechcraft public speaking course will be offered on four consecutive Saturdays from 10 a.m. to noon beginning Feb. 1 at the Pharr Memorial Library (121 E Cherokee Ave., 2nd Floor). The Speechcraft is sponsored by Hub City and Allen McAllen Toastmasters Clubs.
With regard to measles, there’s good news and bad news.
Over a span of nine days — Feb. 12 through Feb. 21 — Homeland Security/ICE agents paid a visit to two local businesses (McAllen and Los Fresnos) and took away workers who allegedly have no right to either reside or work in the U.S.
Join Artists Reefka Schneider and Poet, Steven Schneider for a presentation on their eco-tapestry of art and poetry, 'Last Poet in the Woods,' Thursday, February 27, 2025, 6:00pm to 7:00pm. For this special presentation Professor Schneider will discuss the literary traditions of ekphrasis and eco-writing as well as the social, pedagogical and ecological goals of Last Poet in the Woods.
