McAllen may sue state over law tied to local elections

The city of McAllen may file a lawsuit against the state of Texas, challenging a state law that would require the city to surrender control of the May 2021 election to Hidalgo County. Voters submitted a petition to McAllen in December, requesting that McAllen allow Hidalgo County to handle the May election.
