Abortions in Texas have a history

To the editor: Being a geezer I well remember all the fights over abortion since well before the Roe v Wade decision of 1973. Texas was one of the states that had a law against abortion prior to that decision, and has now enacted another law that allows abortion only until a heartbeat of the fetus can be detected. Since a heartbeat can be detected at about six weeks from conception, most abortions will be prohibited in Texas unless the Supreme Court intervenes; which presently seems unlikely.
