Be Counted this Census – for Pharr’s Future!

Have you been counted in this year’s census? Pharr’s future is counting on you, and we’re running out of time! Every ten years, residents across the United States participate in a nationwide exercise to get an accurate count of the population. This census allows the federal government to determine how to allocate funding, resources, representation in Congress, and other federal assistance to jurisdictions at the local level. When the Shelter-at-Home was lifted, the census team members began canvassing neighborhoods, strategically using historical data at the census tract level to determine households. The city also promoted a utility assistance giveaway for residents from 11 out of 21 targeted census tracts that had a historically lower ...
