Prior to the last election, a number of spy agency officials went on record with a statement they (allegedly) knew to be false (that Rudy Guiliani had been supplied with a laptop by Putin that claimed to belong to Hunter Biden). They did so because the laptop actually belonged to Hunter and contained information that (allegedly) implicated presidential candidate Biden in money laundering, influence peddling, and potential treason.
