Attorney General Merrick Garland is presumed to know the law and is supposed to follow it. Yet, his appointment of David Weiss as special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden falls considerably short of that mark. Under the law, a special counsel (special prosecutor) must be chosen from people OUTSIDE the government. The reason for that is self-evident. The individual must be free from possible influence by those within the government. That’s the whole reason for having such a special prosecutor.Weiss is the United States Attorney for the District of Delaware. As such, he is an employee of Garland. Garland, therefore,
