I was going to make this column something positive this week – what with the holidays and all – but then I started thinking about death, which has nothing positive at all associated with it. Unless you’re in a lot of pain at the end, and then, it’s a welcome release. Ah, happy holiday thoughts. But I did manage to come up with a positive suggestion: When someone dies, tell the surviving family you’re sorry, pat them on the back, let them cry on your shoulder if they feel the need, either literally or figuratively, and then shut the hell up.
