In my younger, dumber days, I would have celebrated the new vehicle law that the Texas Legislature passed last year and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law last August, despite it being a public danger: No more vehicle safety inspections (tires, brakes, lights, mirrors, headlights, fuel system, tail lights, and turn signals, etc.) needed as of Jan. 1, 2025 for noncommercial vehicles.
