As Texas Lieutenant Governor Daniel Patrick gets ready to oversee the state Senate next month as its president when the new legislative session begins, he’s already laying down cover for the alcohol industry, who must be losing money thanks to all the vape/CBD, hemp, Delta 8 shops showing up around the state.

Annual Vehicle Safety Inspections Disappear

In my younger, dumber days, I would have celebrated the new vehicle law that the Texas Legislature passed last year and Gov. Greg Abbott signed into law last August, despite it being a public danger: No more vehicle safety inspections (tires, brakes, lights, mirrors, headlights, fuel system, tail lights, and turn signals, etc.) needed as of Jan. 1, 2025 for noncommercial vehicles.
