The Fight for Energy

China desperately wants more carbon-based energy. It has built islands in the South China Sea primarily to bolster its claim on underwater oil deposits. It is also drilling on its own land like mad and has the goal of shortly becoming energy self-sufficient. It wants to follow Donald Trump’s lead in that respect. Meanwhile, it continues to import vast quantities of coal (when its not refusing coal barges from Australia to protest the Aussies’ call for openness about the source of the CCP virus).

A War of Words

A War of Words

The conflict in Ukraine is unique in that Russia has misstated the reason for invading as well as the nature of the people they are attacking. Putin also has been careful not to show the folks at home the extent of the carnage he has produced. Video news footage has been replete with pictures of attack helicopters not attacking (as cameras focus on the sky above rather than on the explosions down below. Ukraine, on the other hand, is bent on informing the Russian people as to what is really going on. This has produced a war with an unusual emphasis on propaganda as well as news.
