Gun Control for Dummies?
We are currently hearing a ton about the need to ban or circumscribe “assault rifles.” I notice that when liberal legislators use the term, however, they seem to use it interchangeably with “semi-automatic.” There is a world of difference between the two terms. True assault rifles can generally be switched between semi-automatic and fully automatic (in which a single trigger pull produces continuous fire). They also feature flash suppressors to prevent the enemy from seeing the source of gun fire and barrel shrouds to prevent heated barrels from burning the shooter. They also will take magazines of significant capacity. A semi-automatic rifle, on the other hand, simply fires one shot per trigger pull.
