The home squad from the Rio Grande Valley traveled up to Louisiana on Saturday to take on Nicholls State University in a Southland Conference opener. It was a tooth and nail type of game as the Vaqueros (1-2, 0-1) narrowly lost to the Colonels (2-1, 1-0), 31-28.
