Opening of schools sees an uptick in COVID cases

Special to the AdvanceEDINBURG — Officials with the Hidalgo County Health and Human Services Department are seeing an uptick in COVID cases that correlates with the opening of school throughout the region.A total of 63 people in Hidalgo County have been hospitalized for treatment related to COVID, the health department reports. Of those, 43 are adults, eight of whom are in intensive care units, and there are 20 pediatric cases, two of whom are in intensive care.
