McALLEN — South Texas College kicks off its 14th annual South Texas Ceramic Showdown, "The Future is Fluid. Is Function Fixed?” with a reception as well as two days of demonstrations, art talks and a month-long exhibit for the community.
This week’s Cinderella dogs of the week are Mitch and Pawli. Both are handsome young dogs who have a deformed or damaged front foot, Mitch’s from an unknown mishap, and Pawli’s from a birth defect. We are hoping that there are two very special homes out there for these loveable and loving dogs. Neither dog seems bothered by the impairment of his foot at all.
McALLEN – Everyone has an inner Superhero power, what’s yours? Quinta Mazatlán invites you to the new quarter mile Superhero Trail through the Woods. Valley artists Celerino Castillo and Gaby Rico have created over 75 life size painted wood PEGS of comic book Superheroes that have been placed along the trails. As you walk the trail you will also see 6’ tall famous comic book covers that will be accompanying the artistic PEGS. The trail will end with our real life superheroes and their vehicles. Join us on Thursday, June 2nd for the opening date of our Thursday Family Fun Nights from 6 pm to 8 pm at Quinta Mazatlan.

I’m glad I’m in this de-stress mode because yesterday’s visit to the grocery store was stressful. No, I’m not talking about the increased price of groceries. I’m talking about being stuck in line behind a woman who had this phone app, which she was using to pay for the groceries, only the phone app wasn’t working, and she was taking forever.
