How many times have I seen the movie “The Birds,” who knows. When it first came out in March 1963, I was 7 going on 8 when my parents took me to see it. I can remember driving home, thinking, yeah, but what really happened in the end?

Meet Darla! Can you believe this beauty has been in our care since February? Fortunately, this lovely lady finally got a break from the shelter when one of our foster parents took her out for a Pawjama Party sleepover. She is extremely gentle and loves to cuddle and give kisses. Darla's a very quick learner! She picked up on "sit" and "stay" commands while in her overnight foster home, and is highly motivated by treats. She is also extremely gentle around other pets and was calm and friendly around her foster's cat. Darla is also fully potty trained! To help more dogs like Darla get a break from the shelter environment so that they can de-stress and let their true personalities show, consider taking one of our dogs on an overnight Pawjama Party! A wetter summer than normal

A lot of people probably don’t know this, but before the age of local irrigation (early 1900s), the Rio Grande Valley was once called the Wild Horse Desert because of its relative lack of rain compared to, let’s say, Corpus Christi (31.7) and Austin (34.25). In comparison, Hidalgo County, averages 23 inches of the wet stuff per year.
