EDINBURG — The City of Edinburg Parks and Recreation Department is working on construction of the city’s first public outdoor fitness court. It’s a seven movement, seven-minute bodyweight fitness circuit. Residents can choose an exercise for each station and move from Station 1 through Station 7.

PHARR — As a way to give back to their dedicated parent volunteers, the PSJA ISD Parental Engagement Program leadership recently surprised families with graduating seniors with gift baskets.
It’s hard to imagine anything cuter than a kitten, although puppies might be considered very close runners-up. Both are full of energy and so cute as they playfully learn to navigate their world. One big advantage a kitten has over a puppy is: no housetraining required. Even baby kitties instinctively know to use a litter box, which gives you a lot of extra time to spend showering them with attention.
McALLEN — Keep McAllen Beautiful has embarked on a program to give public art a stronger presence in the city and to give experienced artists a chance to get exposure on their work. Located throughout McAllen are over 200 irrigation pipes, which come in all shapes and sizes, and are part of the city’s rich agricultural history. To this day, some of those concrete pillars continue to regulate flow of irrigation-water to help maintain farmlands. A few of those pipes stand vigilantly along the City of McAllen’s Hike and Bike Trails and have long been eyed as a promising place for public murals, and thanks to local artists, some have now been transformed into beautiful works of art.
