Special to the Advance McALLEN — During the Texas Association of Telecommunications Officers and Advisors (TATOA) Conference and Government Programming Awards Ceremony, Hidalgo County was honored with 15 awards for videos produced by the county’s communications divisions.
Sure, the Houston Astros won the World Series last week, the team’s second go-around (first was in 2017), but one of the biggest winners in the game, so to speak, was 71-year-old James “Mattress Mack” McIngvale, who had laid out $10 million in bets that the Astros would win the Series, and now he’s set to collect a $75 million payout, the largest in sports betting history.
