Note: Maybe I’m just talking to the wrong teachers, administrators, but the picture out there in the world of public education isn’t pretty, according to educators with whom I discuss the job of interacting with today’s students post-pandemic, which did a number on mental health.
On May 16, the Pan American Round Table of Alamo-San Juan-Pharr (P.A.R.T. of A.S.J.P.) honored two students from Southwest High School of the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District. D’banhy Ocanas and Karla Mascorro each received a $1,000 scholarship to further their education.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD recently announced a historic milestone for the district as the Class of 2024 graduates from all six high schools were awarded over $167 million in scholarships and grants.
At the PSJA ISD Board Meeting Monday night, the lowest bid submitted for a $1.5 million door project failed to get board approval, despite the superintendent, Dr. Alejandro Elias, telling the six trustees that if they didn’t select a vendor Monday night, the job might well be delayed into the fall semester, since the next board meeting isn’t until July, and the job now has to go out for re-bid.
The City of Edinburg recently congratulated UTRGV on the approval of a new residence hall and dining facility by the University of Texas System Board of Regents, according to a release by the city.
