Over 70 educators from school districts in Indiana visited Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) on Nov. 8 & 9, 2023 to learn about its nationally recognized Early College Program and tour some of its successful early college high schools as part of the district’s PSJA “College for All” Learning Tours.
In an effort to provide students, families, and community members a safe space to partake in Halloween festivities while simultaneously bringing awareness to the importance of living a drug-free life, Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District held its first-ever Trunk or Treat Bash on Oct. 30 at the PSJA Stadium.
Last Wednesday, Vanguard Academy was awarded the 20242025 Stronger Connections Grant through Texas Education Agency, worth $1,000,000. The grant will be used to continue to fund Vanguard Academy’s Student Support Program (SSP) at Vanguard Academy Mozart Secondary and Elementary campuses. Vanguard Academy is one of 10 school systems in Region One that received this grant.
The Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD Health Services Department in collaboration with the PSJA Police Department will be having their next Health on Wheels community outreach event on Thursday, Nov. 9, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., at the Housing Authority of San Juan.
In celebration of National Children’s Book Week, the Dustin Michael Sekula Memorial Library invites the public to a lively reading and puppet show presentation of the book Her Butterfly Effect: When the Evergreens Blossomed Orange by Dr. Elaine M. Hernandez on Saturday, Nov. 11, from noon to 2 p.m.
