Hundreds of dedicated volunteers gathered Sept. 8, for the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo ISD (PSJA ISD) 16th Annual Countdown to Zero Dropout Recovery Walk. Through this annual district initiative, dozens of volunteers walk neighborhoods to recover students not currently attending school.
In a heartfelt and unanimous decision, the Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District (PSJA ISD) Board of Trustees voted to rename Alamo Middle School to “Jesus “Jesse” Vela Middle School,” celebrating a lifetime of dedication and service Vela has bestowed upon the district and the community. The unanimous vote was made during a regular school board meeting held Sept. 11.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Independent School District student Madison Rose Orozco, was featured in Time Square on Sept. 9 as part of the annual National Down Syndrome Society Time Square Video Presentation.
Continuing their efforts to raise money for student scholarships and teacher grants, members of the PSJA Education Foundation raised thousands of dollars during their 11th Annual Fundraiser Gala held at the Bert Ogden Arena on Sept. 7.
Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) recently named PSJA Memorial Early College High School Financial Aid Officer Erica Danae Ramos as one of their newest members to the Financial Aid Advisory Committee.
