City Proclaims June 2023 as National Cancer Survivor Month

The Pharr City Commission approved a proclamation declaring June 2023 as National Cancer Survivor Month. The City of Pharr is proud to support this campaign celebrating those who have fought the disease and those who are currently in treatment. Thanks to spectacular advances in cancer research, more than 18 million people in the United States are cancer survivors who are living with, through, and beyond their disease. Accepting the proclamation were Mario Lizcano, Administrator of Corporate Affairs for Doctors Hospital at Renaissance (DHR), and members of the DHR Advance Cancer Care Team. Lydia Molina, a cancer survivor and employee of the DHR Advance Cancer Care Team spoke to the commission about her experiences, advocacy to promote early detection, and her work to help other survivors.
