PHARR — This weekend will for sure go out with a bang as the City of Pharr is inviting the public to its Independence Day festival on Saturday.
Tuesday morning, Hidalgo County District Attorney “Terry” Palacios and municipal police chiefs met to announce that this holiday, July 4th, will be like most of the other holidays these days — a No–Refusal Weekend.
Former Hidalgo County District Clerk Omar Lopez Guerrero, 49, is back in the news after being on the run from law enforcement for 13 years, holed up somewhere south of the border.
Career exploration takes on a whole new meaning when students are given the opportunity to step directly into the professional environments they aspire to join. This summer, 15 students from Jimmy Carter Early College High School did just that through a prestigious internship program hosted by the Hidalgo County Bar Association, gaining firsthand exposure to the legal system while exploring potential careers in law and public service.
MISSION – As the Hidalgo County WIC Program continues to modernize and enhance access to services, the program will launch a new online benefit issuance service on July 1, 2026, giving participants expanded access to services and reducing the need for in-person clinic visits. As part of this transition, the Mission I WIC Clinic, located at 211 South Schuerbach Rd. in Mission, will permanently close on July 1, 2026.
